Spell Update
We’ve got some great news to start off with! The Development on ALL Spells has moved from Phase 1 into Phase 2! BUT... what does this mean??
There is a 3 Phase Development Process that we use to make Spells for DC20 (outlined below). This also gives me a great way to show yall insight into where the development is.
Blue = Outline design space of what would be expected when you think of ALL potentials spells in a fantasy TTRPG.
Gold = Brainstorm and expand the design space to see what new and cool Spells we can add that are "outside the box".
Purple = Outline the Spells and actually write them out
Green = DONE
We’re now moving into the brainstorming phase, and it’ll only keep ramping up from here.

More 0.10 Updates
There are some more updates and quality of life improvements to DC20 outside of JUST Spells coming with 0.10 as well! The BIGGEST one is an update for both Martials and Spellcasters. Martials have thier weapons and now Spellcasters have a Spell Focus system (similar to how Weapon Properties work) that they can further customize how they want to cast spells.
We have also SIMPLIFIED things further on the Martial end and have updated Weapon Styles (more to come on that in the near future) and are also combining Maneuvers and Techniques together (similar to how Cantrips and Spells are "together"). I will be announcing the specific update in a Livestream in the next 2 weeks, so stay tuned for that!

DC20 at GenCon
I’ll be at GenCon this year, and will be doing two different meetups! I have a panel I’m speaking on, on that Thursday (July 31st) at noon. I also have some potential big games in store to tell you guys about, but I’m still working out the details. I’ll share with you guys as soon as I know who I’m playing with!

DC20 - June 25 Update: Checks & Spell Focus

It’s absolutely insane that’s been a year since the Kickstarter! The game has come so far and grown so much! DC20 has changed a lot since then, and it is the support from you all that allow me to not rush this game through development, and truly be able to make it the best it possibly can be! We just made some big changes to things like Defense in the last update, and the reception from you all has been amazing.

Multiple Check Penalty changes to better account for different types of Attacks (Martial and Spellcasters)
New Spell Focus system that will mirror the weapon property system, where you can make your own Spell Focus
We are also finished with the Spell Templates and can now move into actually brainstorming the design space for the huge possibilities that Spells will have.
Upcoming Monster Update
We have spent some time updating ALL the monsters in the Monster Starter Pack and "The Hunted" One Shot Adventure as well! There will be an updated PDF sent out to reflect the changes in 0.9.5 some time this month!

DC20 - May 25 Update: Spells & Technique Development

We’ve got another simple update this month! We just released 0.9.5 and are excited to start working on Spells! We’re planning on releasing over 100 Spells in the next update! We’re focusing first on the elemental spells, to get the damage tuning right and balanced them compared to martials, then after that we’re gonna focus on the healing spells, and once all of that is tuned in we’ll be able to open up into the more utility and more “fancy” type of spells (teleportation, illusion, mind control, terraforming, etc.). We will also be adding new Techniques to this next update to further expand what Martials Classes can do with their Stamina.
Other PDF Updates & Releases
Now with the release of 0.9.5, we are spending some time on updating the Monster Starter Pack and The Hunted One-Shot Adventure to make the monsters compatible with current rules. We are also starting to work on the Beta releases of the other PDFs on the Kickstarter now as well (Monsters, Magic Items, One Shots, Advanced Gameplay Guide, and more).
So expect to see updates on those resources in the next month or so!
DC20 Content on Patreon

DC20 Beta 0.9.5 RELEASE

DC20 0.9.5 PDF is HERE!
This update is being released only 1 month after 0.9! We have been working on this update for much longer than that. 0.9 focused on Subclasses and 0.9.5 focuses on the core RULES, quality of life and mechanics changes.

How to get the 0.9.5 PDF NOW
Kickstarter Backers: Check your DriveThruRPG account. The PDF should be there in the DC20 Section, check there first because it MIGHT say 0.8 or 0.9 still, but if you click on it the PDF will be 0.9.5. There was a naming issue on their server last time. If you already got the update from 0.8 -> 0.9, then this (and all future updates) will work the same way!
Anyone who has the DC20 Core Rules (either Kickstarter or Website purchase) will get all updates to DC20 Core Rules for FREE until the games FINAL release!
If nothing is working then you can reach out to "[email protected]" and we will verify everything and get you taken care of.
0.9.5 Changelog
This was something that was missing from 0.9 and I will be sending out an updated PDF soon, but until then I wanted to give everyone the FULL Changelog here. The main focus was Subclasses, but there were some big CLASS changes and some other small tweaks too:
0.9.5 will not be available on Foundry until they finish the update on their end. They have been AMAZING at keeping up with all the changes and I will make an update once they are up to date as well.
0.10 will NOT be only 1 month away like this update was (that's why it had a ".5" on the end of it lol). The next update is a TON of Spells and Techniques for DC20, this is the final HUGE task left for the games development and will take some time. I will keep yall posted of course along the way here in these Kickstarter Posts, and in Livestreams / Patreon too!

It’s a simple update this month! We just released 0.9 and love to see all of the excitement in the community with the first huge update since the Kickstarter. Things are really ramping up now and looking really good for the game’s development! We love hearing all the feedback over on discord and can’t wait to see what yall think about this next update!
DC20 0.9.5 Update
Speaking of the next update… DC20 0.9.5 should be releasing within a couple weeks from now! That’s no April Fools joke, the update has now moved over into editing already and is being laid out as we speak!

What are we working on now?
SPELLS! Spells are the main focus of the 0.10 update, and there will be a TON of Spells released with this update. In fact, over 50% of the Spells that’ll be in the game will be in this update. The team is focused heavily right now on Spells, as well as new ways to handle Rituals, balancing of Spells, and truly getting across the feel of Spells evolving as you pump more Mana into them.
We’re hard at work right now on Spells and they’re coming along great. Once 0.9.5 releases, stay tuned for more specific updates to come.
